Fifteen years ago, if someone would have said that we would have something like social networking, which would allow people to get in touch with everyone and anyone on earth who is online, we would have laughed at the people, and suggested something more intellectual such as “yeah….. May be”. Yes, things have changed fifteen years hence and we do have facebook, orkut, myspace, xing, mixi and God knows many more. The transformation of technology from web 1.0 t web 2.0 was so quick that we even did not realize the intensity of advancements. Years later, we see a whole new revolution from web to mobile in the form of applications. You guessed it right, every application today which is available free/paid on web has to have presence on a normal GPRS enabled handset, else the application itself gets outmoded.
As the market for Smartphone gets heated up around the world, research says that India will have maximum number of Smartphone users in the world by 2015. Each of the Smartphone’s is powered by Applications which render fun and utility to the phones. At present with more than 300,000 applications Apple leads the apps. Market as compared to Google’s android at slightly over 100,000 apps. This however, could well be reversed in days to come. I love the applications that add life to my blackberry and really the importance of these applications can only be felt when you need them the most like I could revert to each and every compliment from the friends on my birthday using the facebook application for blackberry.
On the applications side there is more to come, as more and more business houses develop new apps for business utility. There are apps. which suggests to you the route to the nearest cinema, there are apps which suggest you on dine out preferences and much more. The only question that is evident now is “Which one do you choose buddy?”
